DR. NICK PAPPAS

“As an orthodontist, I have the greatest job in the world: making people smile for a lifetime. I get to hang out with kids, teens and adults. I get to know each of them well, watch them grow, and see their confidence and self-esteem soar.”

“Creating lifelong, beautiful smiles is a true passion I am able to achieve every day as an orthodontist. It is extremely gratifying to have the opportunity to make such a profound impact on my patients’ lives. I truly enjoy forming relationships with my patients and watching their transformation from the beginning to the end of treatment.” — Dr. Nick Pappas

EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION

Dr. Pappas grew up in Poquoson and attended the University of Virginia for his undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Science in biology. He completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at Virginia Commonwealth University.

During his service with the Air Force, he completed a one-year advanced education general dentistry residency at David Grant Medical Center and Travis Air Force Base in California. Dr. Pappas served three years as a general dentist in the United States Air Force before completing his orthodontic residency and Master of Science at the University of Iowa.

Dr. Pappas has a passion for learning. He consistently works to stay on the cutting edge of information, techniques and materials used in the practice of orthodontics. He and his staff spend a great deal of their professional time perfecting their orthodontic skills and keeping current with the latest orthodontic innovations through continuing education programs and orthodontic seminars.

PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS

Dr. Pappas is also a Board Certified orthodontist with the American Board of Orthodontics, one of only a handful in the Hampton Roads area with that distinction. Board certification confirms an orthodontist’s personal commitment to providing lifelong, high-quality patient care. Fewer than 30% of orthodontists are board certified.

FAMILY AND COMMUNITY

Dr. Pappas has a loving wife, Kelly, who also helps with the family business. He has a son, Shepherd, a daughter, Thompson, and rescue dog named Chapman. His parents, sister, niece and nephew all live locally as well.

In his spare time, Dr. Pappas likes to play pickleball and tennis, eat Chipotle burritos, search for his golf ball in the woods and spend time with his friends, family and dog.

Dr. Pappas also enjoys giving back to the community through the Mission of Mercy projects, for which he has traveled to underserved areas of Virginia, as well as to rural communities in Jamaica and Honduras, to provide dental care.

Carol

Orthodontic Assistant/Sterilization

Avery

Orthodontic Assistant

Avery completed the dental assistant program at East Texas Dental Assisting School in 2014. She was inspired to pursue her career because when she was younger, she went through extensive orthodontic treatment and underwent maxillary osteotomy surgery. As a teenager prior to her treatment, she did not have the confidence in herself that she had after healing. Her doctors and assistants were always so nice and helpful throughout her whole treatment, and she wants to provide the same care to children and adults and help them be happy with their smiles. Avery loves providing high-quality care to each patient, being able to build relationships with patients, their families and her coworkers and watching them grow to be the best versions of themselves

Her family consists of her sweet husband, Gary, and her little rottie girl, Molly. In her free time, she loves spending time outdoors: hiking, swimming and going to the beach. She also enjoys traveling and exploring new places.

Casey

Orthodontic Assistant

Casey joined our practice in May 2023, and brings with her a great sense of humor that makes our patients and her coworkers smile. She is a Richmond, VA, native and lived all over the country during her husband’s time in the U.S. Coast Guard before deciding to settle down in Yorktown. She found her passion and purpose in the orthodontic field and cannot imagine doing anything else.

Casey married her high school sweetheart, Brandon, and together they have two kids, two dogs and a cat. Outside the office she loves reading, attending her children’s sporting events and rollerblading as a family on the weekends.

Lex

Orthodontic Assistant

Lex joined our team in October 2024, and enjoys seeing people’s confidence grow with their new smile as well as being part of a team where everyone is welcoming.

Lex lives with her fiancé, Peyton, and has two huskies and two cats. Outside the office, her hobbies include renovating our house, walking with the dogs and reading.

Callie

Scheduling Coordinator

Callie graduated from Shepherd University with a degree in mass communications and journalism. She joined our team in October 2023, and brings a smile to work with her every day. She loves being part of a practice that laughs together all day long and genuinely enjoys each other’s company.

Callie is the oldest of four siblings and is grateful that most of her family lives relatively close. She and her son are happy to call Yorktown home. When not in the office, she can be found boating or at the beach any chance she gets. Callie is also an avid reader and enjoys workout classes, yoga, dancing and whatever adventures her son dreams up.
